Joel Hathaway
Joel Hathaway is a graduate from Cornish College of the Arts, with a BFA in Dance; he danced in Cornish Dance Theater where he worked with various ballet and modern choreographers, most notably he worked with Peter Sparling and Susan McLain in the restaging of Martha Graham’s Diversion of Angels. Most recently he performed for Royal Caribbean Productions in Broadway Rhythm and Rhyme, All Access, and Tango Buenos Aires. Hathaway danced with Milwaukee Ballet II for two seasons; in addition to performing in MBII repertory he has performed Michael Pink’s Candide Overture, Sleeping Beauty, Peter Pan, and Nutcracker. Originally from Seaside, Oregon Hathaway trained at the School of Oregon Ballet summer intensives with Damara Bennet and Christopher Stowell, Ballet Chicago with Daniel Duell and Patricia Blair, and Maddox Dance Studio. He has also studied at San Francisco Conservatory of Dance, collaborating with teachers and contemporary choreographers Summer Lee Rhatigan, Thomas McManus, Alex Ketley, Robert Moses and Glen Edgerton. Most notably he was privileged to have studied the improvisational technologies of William Forsythe, and performed in Forsythe’s ballet Enemy in the Figure under the tutelage of Thomas McManus. Hathaway has also performed excerpts from Symphony of Psalms, and Whereabouts Unknown, by Jiri Kylian at the San Francisco Conservatory of Dance. This is Mr. Hathaway’s first season with Missouri Contemporary Ballet.
